Summary

v1.0.1 is a small cleanup and hardening patch following v1.0.0. It removes leftover dead code, completes missing type definitions for the desktop bridge, and tightens backend security and standards compliance. No user-facing behavior changes.

What's new

Backend hardening

  • Tightened CORS policy — the backend API now only accepts requests from localhost/127.0.0.1 instead of any origin. This reduces exposure if the backend port is ever reachable from outside the application.
  • Migrated startup/shutdown handling to FastAPI's modern lifespan pattern, removing deprecated API usage and the associated startup warnings.

Internal cleanup

  • Removed several pieces of leftover dead code with no effect on functionality:
    • An unused, invisible placeholder tile in the main menu
    • A leftover chat stub file from early development that was never used
    • A stale cached Python bytecode file for a router that no longer exists
    • An unused, redundant alias on the desktop integration bridge
  • Completed the desktop bridge's TypeScript type definitions — several methods (PDF opening, external links, app version lookup, developer tools, zoom control) were missing proper types, which could mask errors during development. No runtime behavior is affected.

Bug fixes

None — this release contains no behavioral bug fixes, only internal cleanup and hardening described above.

Known issues

Same as v1.0.0:

  • Windows SmartScreen warning on first run — because the installer is not code-signed, Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Click More info → Run anyway to proceed.
  • Long first-run document fetch — On first launch, downloading the bundled document library can take several minutes.
  • Language setting — Italian and German are listed but not yet fully implemented. Only English is fully supported.

Upgrade notes

Upgrading from v1.0.0

This is a patch release with no functional or settings changes. Simply run the v1.0.1 installer over your existing install.
